VP Pence Has Meeting With Russians and Recommends Adapting "Decriminalization of Domestic Viol
Upon his return from talks with Russian President Putin, Vice President Pence put forth a bill to Decriminalize Domestic Violence. Dubbed the "Slapping Law". It decriminalizes a first offense of domestic violence that does not seriously injure the person. Putin was quoted "Sometimes a man and a woman, wife and husband, have a conflict. Sometimes in this conflict they use, I don't know, a frying pan, uncooked spaghetti, a Siberian Sable...although they can get rather uppity at times and so on".
The Vice President had talks with Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church. "Traditional family life, includes the "Domostroi," a centuries-old manual prescribing strict rules of behavior and requiring absolute submission to the head of the family," the Patriarch informed Pence. Pence was overheard saying "I like it, makes perfect sense to me".
First Lady Melania Trump voiced her views, "Of course, this is the traditional way." While feminist and human rights groups recoiled, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was quoted as saying, "We in the House could work with that". Seen as part of Trump's drive to appease conservatives, the bill is being explored.
