Merriam Webster Dictionary Retracts "They" as Their Word of the Year, Replacing it by &quo

In a stunning eleventh hour move, Merriam-Webster has retracted "They" as their non binary standard and has officially named "Y'all" as their word of the year. Spokesperson (soon to be replaced by spokes-offspring, or dangling uterus), Reese Avery Quinn Prudor Lane announced that the retraction was spearheaded by this country's most admired Grammy winning buxom treasure, Dolly Parton.

"I've been using y'all since I was back in Tennessee as a little girl (size A), 'til I paid to have these DDD's put in. It's just friendlier than 'they'," Ms. Parton explained.

Merriam-Webster had this to say:

English and Newspeak famously lacks a gender-neutral singular pronoun to correspond neatly with singular pronouns like everyone or someone, and as a consequence y'all has been used for this purpose for over 600 years.

More recently, though, y'all has also been used to refer to one person whose gender identity is nonbinary, a sense that is increasingly common in published, edited text, as well as social media and in daily personal interactions between English and Newspeak speakers. There's no doubt that its use is established in the English language, which is why it was added to the Merriam-Webster.com dictionary this past September.

So Fare Thee Well "Ladies & Gentleman". Au Revoir "Madame & Messieurs". Adiós Señor & Señora. Arrivederci Signore & Signora...

Blokes, chaps, fellas, lads, dudes, boys and men are shelved.

Dames, chicks, dolls, lassies, skirts, girls and women are no more.

Guys, gals, babes, honeys, dudes, bros, brahs, bitches and bastards are right out!

The jury is still out on Darlin'.

Oceania, here we come. Have a Happy New Year Y'all!
